Savannah ‘21

The Savannah reunion is over and was a huge success thanks to the excellent planning Scott and Rita Gudorf.

Rita & Scott Gudorf

We had 40 attendees to our farewell dinner and enjoyed meeting both our old friends and also some new friends.

Everyone who couldn’t attend this year’s 2021 Shanghai Expat Alumni Reunion was missed!

The good news , our 2022 reunion dates are set and we will be headed to Louisville, Kentucky for a (4) day reunion hosted by Thorpe and Mary Ellen McConville September 21-25, 2021

We were lucky this year to include several couples who had been in Shanghai when we were there but none of them had ever attended a reunion. First time attendees were;Leah and Marty Foley, Cheryl King , Selaine & Scott Keaton, Kristen & Jim Fanning , along with Jerry & Jackie Volf came for their first one and are so happy they did. Our dinner count this year was 40. I think everyone enjoyed themselves

Over all, as always, we had Excellent company, food, staff, and venue

Thursday evening we had our typical ‘Meet and Greet’ where we enjoyed drinks, snacks and most of all, each other’s company.

On Friday (36) of us got started with a narrated lunch as we cruised the Savannah River on a paddle wheel boat.

Nothing else was formally planned until our Saturday night farewell dinner. We had lots of entertainment as the ships sailed past our dinner venue windows laden with cargo containers reminding us of all those Chinese treasures we shipped home. Savannah is the US’s 3rd busiest harbor

At dinner our hosts, Rita and Scott Gudorf, were presented a book of the Savannah Squares that everyone signed as a token of our appreciation.

A highlight was a rousing Happy Birthday we sang to Dale Sikes. The staff was very accommodating to put a lot of candles on his dessert!

We also had a very short business meeting where the general consensus was ‘no one’ truly wants the reunions to end.

Come to Louisville with your bid to host in 2023 (meaning an idea of your hotel, tour ideas, etc.) and as always we will vote on where to meet possibly for the next 2 years. After Louisville, there will be "NEW MANAGEMENT" for the finances and website.

We are all primed for our next reunion in Louisville and hope everyone can join us.!
