•  Those of You who come in a day early (on Monday, September 7th) will have plenty of free time to tour the area. There is also free time on Tuesday before going out to our Meet and Greet, and Thursday. There is a variety of things to do and see. More detail will be included in a future email and on the expat website.

  • Traveling to Niagara-on-the-Lake: If you are not planning to drive, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport makes it easier and shorter than flying into Toronto and then driving down. More details in email to come.

ITINERARY FOR REUNION

Monday September 7:

  • CHECK IN TIME IS 3:00 PM

  • Early arrivals. No Shanghai Expat Reunion plans. You are on your own for meals & entertainment/maybe golf? more details in email to come from Margo

Tuesday September 8: 

  • Breakfast: At your own expense is Served daily from 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.M.

    • let your server know that you are with the shanghai ex-pat reunion to receive our discounted breakfast buffet price of $26/PERSON

  • Daytime: Touring is on your own

  • Tuesday Evening: you must be out front of the hotel on the trolley and ready to depart for our

    meet and Greet promptly at 5:45 p.m.

  • 6:30 PM TO 8:30 PM: The ‘MEET & GREET’ will be in At De Simone Estate Winery.  It is an AWARD-WINNING winery, using 100% estate grown fruit that is organically certified

    • Vincenzo spent most of his youth, along with his three siblings helping his parents on the family farm and learned the trade of growing and producing fruit from a very young age. In 2010, he and his father hand planted their first vinifera grape vines; three rows of Cabernet Franc. After seeing the success of the new vines, they continued to plant the rest of the vineyard. Today there is over 17 acres planted of various varieties on the 40 acre Estate.

    • Vincenzo enrolled into the Niagara College Wine and Viticulture program, graduating in 2011. He worked at local wineries determined to follow his passion, opening De Simone Vineyards Estate Winery in 2017.

    • hORS D’OEUVRES PROVIDED along with a large charcuterie board “Grazing Table” and a CASH BAR. His Aunt Margo and Uncle Robert call him Vinny and you can too!

 

 

  • After returning to our hotel: Dinner is on your own. You may want to have a light bite in Bacchus Pub.  Although the pub is open until 11:00 The kitchen is only open until 10:00 p.m.

Wednesday September 9:

A Full Day In Niagara Falls

  • Be sure to have Breakfast before we Leave the Hotel. Our day will be a busy one with pick up by our trolley in front of hotel.

  • Please MEET IN THE HOTEL LOBBY AT 9:20AM (10 MINUTES PRIOR TO DEPARTURE). Be ready and be on the trolley at 9:30 a.m. This day is jam packed and we cannot wait on stragglers…sorry

Niagara Falls Itinerary:

  • We will make a floral Clock stop either on our way to the falls or on the way back’

  • The intricate designs on the face of the Floral Clock measure 40 feet in diameter and are created with as many as 16,000 thousand carpet plants and are changed twice each year. The planted face of the Floral Clock is maintained by Niagara Parks horticulture staff, while the mechanism inside is kept in working order by Ontario Power Generation. The tower at the back of the clock houses Westminster chimes that greet each quarter hour. When the door into the Tower is open, you can see photos that show every face design all the way back to 1950 and the clock mechanism

  • A Stop at whirlpool rapids …maximum stop… 20 MINUTES.you can decide if you want to come back on your own Thursday and ride the whirlpool aero car, which is suspended 200 ft above the niagara whirlpool and class 6 whitewater Rapids

  • We will take a ride right up to the Falls leaving the dock at 11:00 a.m.   

    • The Hornblower (now Niagara City Cruises) route is a 20 +/- minute boat tour operating from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.  It departs from Niagara Parkway, taking you past the American and Bridal Veil Falls, and travels directly into the mist of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.  It is high-speed catamaran.

    • After our ride on the Hornblower we will be picked up around 12:00 noon and have a scenic drive past the Canadian Falls and Historic Barge

    • We then have a reservation for lunch at/in the Skylon Tower at 1 PM and you will have 1.5 hours to eat and enjoy the views from the rotating restaurant

    • After lunch our trolley will pick us up from the Skylon Tower and drop us at the Botanical Garden/Butterfly Conservatory where you will have approximately an hour to leisurely walk about before heading back to The Queens Landing for a drop off at approximately 4:30 P.M.

  •    Wednesday evening: Dinner is on your OWN

Thursday September 10: Reunion dinner in evening and the day until dinner is on your own

  • Breakfast: At your own expense is Served daily from 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.M.

  • Daytime Thursday: Touring is on your own as is lunch. More tour info will be sent out to participants as we get closer to the reunion.

6:00 – 6:30 pm: DINNER IN THE HOTEL — We will have a cash bar with Canape’s passed in the LOYALIST ROOM while we chat. Each guest will be given (1) drink ticket to use

6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. we will have a plated dinner. Margo will be emailing you to choose your entrée and let her know any dietARY restrictions you may HAVE, SO the Chef will have YOUR SElECTION ahead of time

8:30 -9:00 pm: after dinner discussions about THE REUNIONS through the years

Friday, Sept 11: 

Farewell - check out at 11:00 AM unless you are staying longer
