Chattanooga, Tennessee Reunion October 15-18th, 2024
The reunion from October 15th to the 18th was in a beautiful small city of Chattanooga. There were 40 people signed up but only 38 were able to make it. Some people arrived a day early on Monday 10/14 and went to Elsie’s Daughter for dinner, a restaurant at the Chalet Hotel.
The next day Tuesday 10/15 was on your own to explore before the Meet and Greet at 5 pm at the Stir restaurant. The shuttle at the front of the hotel took people to the Stir restaurant while some walked the 0.1 mile to the restaurant which was just behind the hotel. The light hor d’oeuvres consisting of tuna tartare on rice, skewered mozzarella and tomatoes, pork bao, cheeses and warm bread were good enough for a light dinner. After 8 pm, everybody got back to the hotel and some people met at Room 255, the hospitality room for the reunion which is an extension of Bob and Margo Wikman’s hotel suite.
October 16th, Wednesday, was again on your own for the day before the Southern Belle River Boat cruise at 6 pm. Chattanooga had a lot to see and do. People drove up to Lookout mountain and Point Park with Museums about the Civil War that took place in the area. There’s Raccoon Mountain to explore as well as Ruby Falls and Rock City. There’s the city on the other side of the river and there’s a walking bridge connecting both sides. People interested in indoor sights went to the Hunter Museum or the Aquarium. It was quite cold during the reunion so some people also just stayed in! There were two shuttles to the Riverboat Cruise, one at 5 pm and 5:20 after the first group was dropped off. There were several levels on the boat with entertainment of a solo guitar singer on the top of the open deck. Weather was cold and a bit windy, so most people stayed downstairs. It was a beautiful night with a full moon! After the boat cruise, everyone had a simple but nice buffet dinner at the Overboard Restaurant. Two shuttle services were offered for the return to the hotel and most people congregated again at room 255.
Our last day, Thursday, October 17th, was again on your own during the day before our Farewell dinner at the Public House starting at 6 pm. The restaurant was about 15 minutes walk but everyone who had a car took people to the restaurant. The food selection was great. Starter was a salad with goat cheese. The main course choices were grilled filet steak, grilled pork chop, grilled salmon and a vegetarian main! The dessert choices were a chocolate cheese cake, key lime pie and a creme brûlée. The food was very good and red and white wines were on the table to choose from. Bob started to thank our host Cheryl for her great job organizing the reunion and was presented with the book of Chattanooga which everybody had signed. Later after the main course, he introduced the next hosts of 2025, Barbara and Mark Brown, for the Huntsville, Alabama reunion. It was also a unanimous vote to do the 2026 reunion at Niagara on the Lake on the Canadian side. Back at the hotel, it was an early night at room 255 after the farewell dinner.

We thank Cheryl Jackson for organizing a very memorable reunion.
