San Antonio ‘01
The reasons to make San Antonio, Texas the site of our first reunion were that Texas was pretty central territory and travel wouldn’t favor East or West Coast inhabitants. San Antonio had an airport easy to connect to from anywhere in the world plus, as tourists, there would be lots for us to do.
The Amanns and Wikmans made The Marriott on the Riverwalk reunion as headquarters and our Friday night meet and greet was held. We had 39 attendees in Texas and on the last night, the group voted to have the Wikmans host the 2002 reunion in Charleston, South Carolina. It seems almost everyone wanted to see Charleston, South Carolina which is steeped in Southern history and culture.
The success of the reunion in San Antonio was borne out, because everyone rushed to sign up for Charleston, with 100 expats attending.
