Shanghai Reunion - Kalamazoo, MI
September 24, 25, 26
“Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!”
That is our town slogan for this college town home to Western Michigan University established in 1903 and Kalamazoo College in 1839.
“Kazoo” as many of us locals prefer to call it, is a small mid-western city located halfway between Detroit and Chicago with its first settlement in the year 1829. By the 1930’s, more paper was produced in Kalamazoo than anywhere else in the world. Other industries were Checker taxicabs, Gibson guitars, corsets, and the W. E. Upjohn pharmaceutical company among others.
Glenn Miller made famous the song “I’ve got a gal in Kalamazoo.” The Kalamazoo Valley Museum is chock full of artifacts from Arts & Industry of Kazoo days gone by. Walking distance from the downtown Radisson hotel.
Tom and I are looking forward to your visit. We will provide a relaxed pace that includes time for “catching up” and “happy hour.” Until then, see you in September!
